The My Hero Academia universe is about to get even bigger! The highly anticipated anime adaptation of “My Hero Academia: Vigilantes” has just been confirmed, along with a brand-new main trailer and streaming details.
This spin-off takes place five years before the events of My Hero Academia, offering fans a grittier and darker look into the world of unlicensed vigilantes who operate outside the official Pro Hero system. If you’ve ever wondered what heroism looks like beyond the UA Academy spotlight, this anime is set to deliver a thrilling and action-packed perspective.
Here’s everything we know so far about My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, its story, characters, and where you can watch it!
Unlike the main series, which follows official Pro Heroes and students at UA Academy, My Hero Academia: Vigilantes focuses on heroes who don’t have a license to operate—but still fight for justice anyway.
The story centers on Koichi Haimawari, a seemingly ordinary college student who has a minor Quirk that allows him to glide across surfaces. Though his power isn’t flashy, he uses it to help people in small ways—whether it’s rescuing a lost child or stopping minor crimes.
But when Koichi encounters Knuckleduster, a Quirkless vigilante who believes in brute-force justice, his life changes forever. Together with Kazuho Haneyama, a young woman with the ability to release explosive projectiles, they form an unofficial hero team that takes on criminals the Pro Heroes can’t—or won’t—touch.
✔ A Darker Tone: Vigilantes shows the struggles of those without hero licenses, operating in the shadows and dealing with dangerous underground villains.
✔ No UA Academy, No Hero Rankings: These characters aren’t future Symbol of Peace candidates—they’re just regular people fighting for what’s right.
✔ More Street-Level Crime Fighting: While Deku and the gang take on massive threats, Vigilantes focuses on ground-level crime, corruption, and overlooked struggles.
The official main trailer for My Hero Academia: Vigilantes just dropped, and it perfectly captures the raw and unfiltered world of underground heroism.
Koichi in Action: We get to see Koichi Haimawari (a.k.a. The Crawler) in full action, gliding around the city as he tries to uphold his own version of justice.
Knuckleduster’s Brutal Fighting Style: Unlike Deku or All Might, Knuckleduster has no Quirk—so he relies purely on hand-to-hand combat, street fighting, and experience.
A Darker, More Gritty My Hero Academia Setting: The criminal underworld, corrupt heroes, and villains hiding in plain sight make this story more mature than the main series.
The anime adaptation of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes is being produced by Studio Bones, the same studio behind the main MHA series, so fans can expect top-tier animation and high-energy fight sequences.
